Capitalizing On Google's Quality Score Changes

Google has updated their Quality Score (QS) algorithm again and a lot of advertisers have found that their minimum bids have gone through the roof. There some angry webmasters as a result of these changes. Believe it or not this is a good thing. Here's why. Less competition. The result of these changes will "thin out the herd" in a manner of speaking. Some of your competitors will survive the changes, some won't. Your competitors that get affected by the QS changes will have to learn to deal with these changes. Some will take some time to learn and others will give up.

You can take advantage of the changes by getting to work on your campaigns to get more traffic. I have had an increase of visitors since the changes because I make sure my pages and ads are relevant to the keywords I'm bidding on.

It works like this for me less competition - lower bids - more traffic = more sales and a higher ROI

It can work like this for you as well. First, you want to make sure the keywords you are using are laser targeted to your product/service. If you are selling inkjet cartridges don't use general keywords like "inkjet cartridges".

Use specific keywords like "canon inkjet cartridges online" or "cheap lexmark inkjet cartridges". Use product specific keywords like "hp 51645a" or "hp deskjet 722c cartridges". You will find that keyword terms like this may not bring you as much traffic but will convert a lot higher than general keyword terms.

Make sure that your ad has the keyword you are bidding on in it e.g.

Save Big on HP Cartridges Cheap HP 51645a Cartridges. Free shipping on orders over $50. http://example.com



Make sure that your landing page's content is relevant to the keyword you are bidding on. In the above case you obviously want to have that product on your landing page and your text should have the keyword in it.

Remember you can use Google's Quality Score changes to your advantage by having relevant keywords, a relevant ad and a relevant landing page. While your competitors either give up or take time to figure out how to fix their campaigns, you should be working on tweaking your campaign and landing pages.
